Havening Techniques

Havening Techniques ("Havening") is a group of powerful techniques that have emerged from the field of neuroscience. Developed by Ronald Ruden, MD, PhD, Havening uses sensory input to identifying the root cause of, and then permanently remove, unhelpful and unwanted, emotional and physical responses to events and experiences.

It is believed that when you perceive an event or experience as traumatic or stressful, it becomes immutably encoded in your brain and body, often with life changing consequences. Havening is designed to de-traumatise your nervous system. It is the removal of these responses that allows for a much more expansive life to emerge. 

This, effectively, rewires the brain and regulates the nervous system to reduce fight, flight, fawn or freeze responses and to switch off the alarm detectors that have been associated with the memory. When this is done, the brain and the body respond differently. ​
